Respect Owed
by Roger W Hancock
... I will not burn the flag,
The veteran I will not spat.
I owe to those who paid the cost,
And respect the waving flag.
I am not a veteran,
I have never served.
I owe to those who gave their lives,
That I be free this day.

Military families do suffer. Especially at the times of conflicts,
when their loved ones are deployed overseas, it is a constant, continued
everyday stress for their spouse, children and parents, who can’t stop
thinking about them. Not surprisingly, the constant tension and stress
may cause significant deterioration in the families and may affect their
ability to function fully both at home and at workplace.
No less important is another side of the question. Many of these families,
in addition to insufficient moral support, suffer also financially, which
makes it even harder for them to feel secure. And especially now, when we
have daily shocking news from Iraq about another soldier killed, one of
the first thoughts coming into our minds is how are the families of those,
who paid their lives for security of our country, are going to survive.
