In early 2012, spurred by a New York Times article and appalled by the Veteran homelessness statistics in it, a group of friends got together to answer a question: How can we help solve the problems facing our Veterans returning home? Later that year, the foundation's inaugural event was launched in New York City. Stars and Strikes, a one-night bowling event, was attended by over 120 people and raised more than $4,000 to help aid some of these associated Veteran challenges.

Over the course of the following year, the team continued to raise awareness and find partnerships to join the cause. The response was overwhelming. The Stars and Strikes fundraiser in 2014 brought in several corporate sponsorships, 170 attendees, and raised over $6,000.

We are growing quickly. Stars and Strikes in 2015 will be the biggest event yet. We've added cities and diversified events in 2016. We are developing our partner alliances and will continue the charge that makes up the foundation's name: to Support Our Heroes.
